In today’s bed liner market there are many products that claim to protect your trucks bed.

This makes it harder for the consumer to filter through the claims to get the right bed liner for their truck. As you know your truck is a large investment that you want to take care of, and since truck manufacturers don’t have many bed liner options to offer, that means you get to choose. There are several factors to keep in mind when selecting a bed liner here are a few of the most important. These questions were given to us by current truck owners, we asked them exactly what questions they would ask when looking for a truck bed liner. So if you own a truck now or are looking to purchase one in the future these questions and answers should be a helpful guide. It is plain as day which bed liner protected your truck the best, was the easiest to own, and had the best warranty. Make sure you make an educated decision, without permanently altering your truck in a negative way.

Which type of bed liner has the best warranty?  The Drop in bed liners warranty stated that it would not cover any rust or damage resulting from the movement of the bed liner in and against the truck bed. Well It looks like they know what it is going to do to your truck before you even put it in. Most of the time the “Spray on” Warranty only covered what they deem personal use, when applied to the original factory finish, and applies to the original purchaser (non transferable). The spray on is only warranted not to crack, bubble or flake as long as you own the vehicle. It does not cover fading which many consumers see as a major negative attribute of the spray ons. The Dual Liner Bed Liner is covered by what they call the “Real Lifetime Warranty,” it is transferable to the next owner of the truck or the bed liner. You don’t see many companies back their products this well.  Dual Liner has a much more customer friendly warranty than the other bed liner companies.

Which bed liner protects your trucks paint the best? Well this is kind of a trick question, if you take into account the fact that to get a spray on bed liner to adhere to your truck you must first destroy the trucks finish with grinders, then that rules out the spray on. Since most drop in bed liners are universal fitting they tend to shift back and forth which eventually wears your trucks paint off, that is not going to protect your paint.  The Hybrid Dual Liner uses hard plastic sides that are make and model specific so they don’t chaff. Then they use a Zero Skid mat for the floor it is 3/8ths of an inch thick with nubs on the bottom that keep it up off the bed to allow water to drain though out the factory drain holes.

Which bed liner protects against dents the best? There is two types of bed liners that provide great dent protection. First the “drop in,” though it does a good job protecting your truck from dents, it is not good for your trucks finish. That leaves the hybrid Dual Liner the best at protecting against dents, the sidewalls are rigid plastic and the floor is  a thick Zero Skid Rubber that even absorbs hits from a sledge hammer. The spray on bed liner did not protect as well as the drop in or the Dual Liner.

Which bed liner will not alter my truck permanently?

After learning what a drop in will do to your trucks finish, We ruled the drop in out. The Spray on is a permanent application meaning that once it is installed, no matter if it fades, cracks or peals you can not easily take it out. The Dual Liner can be taken out at any time leaving preserving the condition of your trucks box exactly how it was before you installed the Dual Liner, making this the only bed liner that will not alter your truck permanently.

Which bed liner gives me the full use of the trucks box? The drop in covers up your tie downs and leaves several area behind the bed liner unusable. The spray on as well as the Dual Liner gave complete access to the entire truck box as well as to the tie downs.
Which bed liner provides the best cargo protection? The Spray on as well as the drop in were very slick to hard cargo like a plastic crate. This allowed the cargo to slide around freely. For our test we used a crate of apples, the spray on and the drop in pretty much created apple sauce while the Dual Liner kept the crate in place and left the apples unharmed. In this test the clear winner is the Dual Liner.
Which type of bed liner requires the least amount of maintenance?  We found that the spray on bed liner companies offer a UV inhibitor (UV blocker) and it is fairly expensive.  The drop in companies offer a conditioner that is suggested to be applied annually. Dual Liner neither makes, provides, or recommends any annual maintenance solution.

Each one of these questions are very important for you to consider. To some truck owners one question might be more important than another, even though they are all important. For instance someone with that is very busy and with very little spare time, might want to make sure that there is little or no maintenance. this was what we found after analyzing several different types of bed liners.   The Dual Liner seems to have catered exactly to the wants and needs in just about every category that the truck owners thought was important. For the past couple of decades people had to choose a bed liner based on whichever bed liner was lessor of evils, or in other words choosing the bed liner that had the fewer of drawbacks.  Isn’t it great today to have products available that are so well thought out, addressing what is truly important to the end user.
